"Frog in the Well" is a civil war tune based on the folk song "Froggie went a-courting." The instrumentation at that time was the fife and drum. The instrumentation in this version is acoustic guitar.
The first published version of the source song is The Marriage of the Frogge and the Mouse
from Melismata - Musicall Phansies Fitting the Court, Citie, and Countrey Humours, To 3, 4, and 5 Voyces. (London, 1611). The first line of the lyrics was: 'Twas the Frog in the well. And the merry Mouse in the mill.
