aerialist #3

From 1890.

I think I'm doing this series of posts on images of trapeze artists/ tightrope walkers because the word "aerialist" is so cool.

  1. aerialist is a very cool word–and this image is wonderful.

  2. That image is amazing. The graphic design is striking. I like the awkwardness of the poses. Also, the situations are really energetic. It reminds me of superhero art like this Jack Kirby bit:

  3. A couple of years ago a troupe of aerialists came through our town, set up their rig, and taught beginners the basics:

I’m actually in a couple of those shots.

(Ya gotta love “troupe” almost as much as “aerialist” which puts “troupe of aerialists” over the top!)

  4. Jon, that “troupe of aerialists” phrase made me laugh out loud. Thanks for passing this along.

Thinking of your “active resume” concept of a blog from a few years back, it turns out that that’s what this site is for me as a musician. It doesn’t substitute for things like CDs and a formal bio, like I thought it might when I started. But it is great for showing my bona fides.
